Lakenvelder Rooster
The mighty Lakenvelder rooster rules the chicken coop at Buffalo Feathers Farm.
Lakenvelder chickens are Keith’s favorite. He first developed a love for them as a child when a neighbor, Mr. Fusselman, had a colorful flock. The not-so-common breed are friendly, unique, and good conversation topics. Research indicates the breed was developed in Holland and Germany with records back to 1727. Since the Lakenvelders are not broody chickens, BFF hatches them in incubators.
He’s foraging for bugs along with a game hen that was gifted to BFF from my buddy Levi Keel.
Lakenvelders are extra talented at finding food and treasures around the farm. They have pretty much eliminated ticks!
